Experience Yoga
If you are seeking greater peace and calm in your body, mind and life, then you are in the right place. If you are seeking an authentic yoga experience taught by an authentic yoga teacher, then you are in the right place. If you are looking for deeper meaning, greater connection, and a healthier sense of Self, then you are indeed in the right place.
It is my sincere privilege to help you build a consistent yoga practice for self-care and balance in your daily life. For me, yoga has been a safe haven, a healing space and a guiding lighthouse. This brilliant, age-old practice helps us navigate security, strength and hope. It advances our human quest for meaning and embodies us with resilience, wisdom and wellbeing. Yoga grounds us in our bodies and in our environments to ensure that we proceed safely through potentially unknown or rough waters. Yoga becomes a beacon of light to guide us through the “fog” and “darkness” of life. It is this lighthouse effect that allows us to see ourselves and our situation more clearly, guiding us along the path of what it means to be human.
Come join us! Kate Brown Yoga promises a safe space, a hearty, full spectrum yoga experience, whether that be in a group or one-on-one. Together we will explore essential yoga, learn how to integrate poses, breathe, meditate, chant and reflect. You will discover how these practices support, develop, and infuse you with a sense of ease, strength, balance, and harmony. My classes and private lessons are creative, expressive, and fun, but most importantly, grounded in and informed by choice. Because choice is holy.

“I’m Irish. I do what I want.” — Bono
My most profound learning has come through the practice of Yoga. I’ve practiced since 2006 and taught since 2007. With nearly 1,000 hours of training and more than 5,000 hours of teaching experience, I share Yoga as it was intended—a liberatory pedagogy balancing tradition and modern insight. My teaching centers breath and embodiment, blending ancient philosophy, neuroscience, trauma-informed practice, and Ayurvedic wisdom—all grounded in humanist and relational principles.
Over the past two decades, I’ve taught in nearly every setting imaginable, from private studios to major universities—including the University of Michigan, Princeton, Smith College, UC Davis, and Sacramento State. My classes offer Yoga not as something we do, but as something we are—a living, evolving practice for human development. Students are invited to connect deeply with the heart of their being and rediscover their innate value and wholeness.
I began my journey at Integral Yoga Institute in New York City with Kali Morse, continued at the Dharma Yoga Center, and later studied at Brooklyn Yoga School with Lily Cushman. In 2021, I completed my 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training with Sarahjoy Marsh, and in 2023, my credentials advanced to E-RYT 500. I now lead workshops and trainings while completing an accredited 800-hour Yoga Therapy program.
In January 2025, I relocated to Salt Lake City to re-embark on my social work and yoga therapy career—earning my LMSW and working in treatment centers and IOP settings. Alongside this return to clinical and therapeutic practice, I’m exploring Utah’s stunning national parks and vast wilderness, reconnecting with nature as my greatest teacher.
My spiritual, philosophical, and educational influences include Nature, Krishnamurti, Patanjali, Satchidananda, the Buddha, Jesus, Merleau-Ponty, the Frankfurt School, Jane Goodall, Black and queer feminist thinkers, Robin Hood, and Bob Dylan.
Namaste,
Kate
